First, if my English is`nt the best.
Has tattooing become the new thing to do?, since the reality/documenter show Miami Ink started, does it feel like it turn up Tattoo artists on every corner.
And i`m not any better, but i`ve been in to tattoo`s since 1996 when i got my first "tat". I remember how i all started, my friend Lars came to a party a night in -96, and had his sleeve rolled up on his shoulder and a large tribal, showed.
And everybody just started "you`r crazy what are people gonna think?", and he replied, and i remember this so well. - It`s my arm, my choice so fuck you, i almost fainted, Lars that never ever open his mouth, just started yelling at these persons, it was like the tattoo had some sort of magic-power or something, and after the yelling was over, everybody got really interested in his tattoo, including myself.
So a couple of days later me and Lars when to this Marko person that Lars knew, He was the one that made the tattoo on Lars, and after looking in some tattoo magazines i decided for tribal, so Marko copied it over to stencilpaper, and then placed it on my arm.
And asked if i was satisfied with the placement of the tattoo, i checked in the mirror and sure it was fine so i sad ok to start the tattooing, but hell i was nervous, And the sweat just started pouring down my forehead and back. But as soon as he got started, all my nervousity just went away and got replaced with, i don`t know but some sort of happines and relief, and when he was done, man i was proud. I was staring at my arm for minutes in the mirror, i could`nt believe that i`ve done a tattoo.
And you can guess who sat at the party that weekend with his sleeve rolled up his arm. -That`s right ME, and man i had THE biggest smile on my face, ear to ear baby. And because Lars already had taken the heat from all these people the weekend before, everybody just gave me compliments and i even got laid that night, and you can bet it was the tattoo that made that happen.
But that almost 11 yrs ago, now i got tattoo`s allover my body. And from thinking tattoo`s are just cool, i`ve started to think of them as art, i guess that i gotten older. And i got to tell you, tattoo`s are like drugs. As soon you make your first your hooked, you can`t stop. The feeling after you dona a new tattoo is indescribable, that`s why i think it` so addictive..
Anyway back to Miami Ink, people that are watching the show, i believe must be thinking that to become a tattoo artist you just have to buy a tattoo-starterkit??, and that it`s easy to become a tattoo artist, i mean that`s just sad is`nt it.
It`s like you go out and buy a book with laws in it and reads it and you become the best lawyer, that`s crap. It`s not called tattoo ARTIST for nothing is it???
Anyway i big clap on the back to the Artist at Miami Ink, Keep up the good work.
